early treatment

Orthodontics treatment is a viable option for anyone at any age. However, there is an optimal time to start treatment. When you receive treatment during this period, it yields the most ideal results in the shortest duration and the least cost. You should receive the first orthodontic consultation when you first notice any orthodontic concern or no later than the age of seven.

Receiving orthodontic treatment as an adult can make drastic improvements to your self-esteem, appearance, and the overall health of your gums and teeth. Having a bad bite or crooked teeth can contribute to bone and gum loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of your enamel, and TMJ/TMD pain.

adolescent treatment

The most common time to receive orthodontic treatment is between the ages of eleven and fifteen. By the time you turn twelve, you would have most or all of your permanent teeth, so any misalignment, gaps, and bite issues are easily detected. Without proper orthodontic treatment, these problems won’t be able to correct themselves

Most patients who receive orthodontic treatment will be wearing fixed appliances (braces), typically made of silver metal. These traditional metal braces are a popular option. However, they are not the only option! Let’s have a look at some of the options available in orthodontic appliances.

invisalign

Invisalign utilizes clear, customized, removable aligners to straighten your teeth without any wires and brackets. The aligners are very unnoticeable, making it the perfect option for those who are self-conscious about receiving treatment. The first step is to schedule a consultation to determine if you are an ideal candidate for Invisalign. The aligners are created using advanced computer technologies.

Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) treats and corrects abnormalities of the facial bones, specifically the jaws and the teeth. Orthodontic treatment may also be used in conjunction with corrective jaw surgery to align the teeth appropriately. Although jaw surgery can dramatically improve a patient’s appearance, the goal is to correct functional problems.
